Creatures Of The Night went up in 2009, one of the first free lounge channels anyone had bothered to put on the internet, and it has always been the work of the same person. Matteo Vanetti runs it out of Locarno, in the Italian-speaking south of Switzerland, where he also DJs lounge sets around the lake, and he has hand-picked every track that has gone out since the start. There is no station behind him and no advertising on the stream, listeners cover the servers, and that has not changed since the first year.

What plays is lounge, chillout and downtempo with a strong balearic pull, deep house at the warmer end and enough smooth jazz and soul to keep it from turning into wallpaper. Ibiza producers turn up constantly, so do Vanetti's own records, and demos sent in by email actually get listened to. Bars and spas across Europe run it as their house music, which is roughly what it was built for.
