Three-city club radio: house, breaks, D&B, and leftfield.
Kaspar van de Water and Fernando Diaz put Callshop on air in April 2017 from the back yard of ROOOOOM, a warren of galleries, studios, offices and workshops by Worringer Platz, with NTS in London and Red Light Radio in Amsterdam as the working models. Branches followed in Leipzig and then Vienna, which carries a second stream of its own, and van de Water's residencies in Paris and Vienna kept pulling the network further outward. He plays saxophone when he is not behind the desk.
The archive files everything by city and by family — House I Techno, UK Bass I Jungle, Jazz I Funk I Soul, Reggae I Dub. Joyboys runs on jazz, Open Window on bass and IDM, Traum A DJ on ambient and drone, beat the rich on boogie and disco. The desk travels too: to the Salon des Amateurs, to Jaki inside Cologne's Stadtgarten, and to Open Ground for a night with Josey Rebelle and Terrance Dixon.
Local scenes, long-distance call.
