De naald wordt afgestoft…
France's campus radios, pooled into one music channel.
The federation behind it started in 1996 as IASTAR France and links around thirty FM and web stations in cities from Brest and Mulhouse to Cayenne and Saint-Denis de La Réunion, with an audience counted in millions. A small paid team and an elected bureau run it from an office in the eighteenth arrondissement of Paris, on the principle that a campus station owes its city as much airtime as it owes its university. This channel is the part they all share, streamed around the clock.
What goes on it is pooled: new releases chosen by the member stations' programmers, live sessions recorded as L!VE Campus, mixtapes under Campus Club, and a monthly chart assembled only from records the network actually played. It tends to be led by electronica and indie, with rap, post-punk and club twelve-inches close behind, French acts level with the imports.
The nation's record bag.
