Aspeeetta...
Spolveriamo la puntina…
Shoegaze, dream pop, and post-punk, lush and 24/7.
Big Sonic Heaven began in Detroit in 1995 as a specialty show on Planet 96.3, hosted by Darren Revell, and ran there for eight and a half years before moving on to Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles. In 2013 it became a podcast and a blog, and then a full-time internet radio station in its own right — three decades of the same remit, carried across three different formats. It is still Revell's show at heart, with new artists given the same footing as the records that first defined the sound decades ago.
The station is built on the ethereal end: shoegaze, dream pop and post-punk, with trip-hop, darkwave, synth pop and britpop worked in. Three named shows anchor the week — Revell's six-hour Flashback Show on Saturdays, Rick Bourgoise on new releases twice a week, and Dani's Kaleidoscape digging into shoegaze on Friday nights. Charts and interviews run alongside.
Detroit specialty show, grown up.
