Espeeera...
Quitando el polvo a la aguja…
Beatless ambient, chosen to be slept through.
Andrew Klimek had a radio show on Rutgers' WRSU between 2005 and 2008, which is where the ambient habit started, and he spent the years after graduating meaning to get back to it somehow. In January 2013 he finally put a playlist from his own iTunes library onto a server as a test, and simply left it under the name it already happened to have. He runs the station from Cleveland with Angela, who records as poemme, alongside Stereoscenic, their small label of mostly name-your-price albums.
The brief is narrower than most ambient stations bother with: calm enough to sleep or work through, beat-free throughout, and deliberately steering clear of both new-age sweetness and the darker drone end. His own line for it is that the music should be less distracting than silence but not so interesting that you end up listening instead of falling asleep. The station has put out five compilations of its own.
Less distracting than silence.
