Die Nadel wird entstaubt…
Ambient, drone and deep techno, label-curated.
A Strangely Isolated Place started 9128 in August 2019, which is to say that a record label went and built itself a radio station rather than the other way round. ASIP is Ryan Griffin's, and the point of the station was never to broadcast his own catalogue at people: the stated goal is a schedule curated entirely by labels and artists, with partner imprints given their own programming slots. Quiet Details, Analogue Attic and Brooklyn's Never Late are among those now in rotation.
The range is wide but coherent, running ambient and drone through field recordings, soundtrack work, modern classical, IDM and out the far side into deep techno. Around the partner shows sit album premieres, label mixes and unreleased material, and the station has put out four releases of its own. Everything plays with permission and links back to where you can buy it.
The labels programme it themselves.
